How to Use 6 Months to Clean Up

The end of the year countdown. It is almost the end of the 6 months of our this year alone. Have you taken stock of what your last six months of this year was like?

In this blog post, it will be a quick one to focus on how you can do your midyear review.

Let’s get started…

  1. First, gather your materials: a couple sheets of paper, a pen (choose a different color than black), your journal, your phone and this post.
  2. Next, you want to schedule this on a day without anything else planned for the next two to four hours for review time and that you are in a distraction free zone.
  3. Take a moment to go through your journal to find your goals from the past six months and review them to see what is going on.
  4. Once you are ready, you are going to ask yourself these questions and write them out on the paper:
    • What are the top three lessons you have learned in the last six months?
    • What are your top three wins from the last six months?
    • What did you accomplish?
    • What haven’t you accomplish yet?
    • What goal do you believe you should delegate to next year?
    • What goal do you not want anymore?
    • What goal do you believe you need help the most in to accomplish?
    • What goal do you not know where to begin the process with?
    • Would you be able to break each of these goals down into sections like personal, school, work, business, social life, etc?
  5. Now, once you see the scope of what your year was like, take a 15-20 minute break for food, power nap etc. Don’t work during this section. Give your brain a break to think freely for a while.
  6. Take your phone to look at your schedule. What goals are you going to focus on in the next 6 months? How are you planning on breaking it down? For example,  you can try the business quarter system of 3 months or a new goal each month as options.
  7. Next take your phone to take stock of your screen time. How much are you using social media, other apps on your phone? It’s okay to have free time. It takes an average person at least 23 minutes to get back on task once they look at their phone. 23 minutes can be used to do a full on one mile walk or planning session.
  8. Look at things on your schedule, and phone to delete things off or delegate them to other people. If you have a goal that you want to get done, it is going to take active attention from you.

Use these eight steps to get yourself started on your midyear review. Of course, you can add things like checking your finances, self check in on your mental health, get a promotion, having a good one on one talk with your lover about your partnership etc. This one is for you to apply.

Remember this is for application and taking action on! In our book club, we have been discussing these themes and being able to consult with YOURSELF (and your team aka your mind). Doing these things helps you see the landscape of your mind and your actions to later change them.

Let me know how you are doing with your goals down below and if you need any support from the community in the Discord.
